While the Swoosh has yet to reveal all of its plans for the Replica Nike Air Force 1's 40th anniversary, it's hard to imagine another high-profile collaboration in preparation for the festivities offering an experimental look like Off-White's revamped sneaker mid-top trim. On June 23, Nike will unveil yet another legacy of Virgil Abloh's legacy, extending Bruce Kilgore's legacy of 1982 and Illinois shoe design. Similar to the accompanying "Black" pair, the upcoming Air Force 1 Mid received a significant overhaul, debuting in 1994.
Airy mesh replaces traditional leather throughout the upper and features a woodgrain pattern, further updating Kilgore's creation. The unconventional lacing system and layout, in line with the rest of the Off-White camp, combined with the orange zipper on the side profile push the sneaker into the fashion world. A see-through logo on the side further pops the aforementioned mesh, though the grey nylon ankle strap and nearby heel panel compete for the spotlight. However, the underfoot unit of the sole presents what is arguably the Air Force 1's biggest update in 40 years, as the midsole's deformed, air-bubble exposed, and often imitated traction is modified with protruding spikes borrowed from Replica Nike performance running line.
